Marta
Koonz (CY)
- CY is planning to
sponsor an after graduation event this year (see attached additional
information) which is still in the planning stages at this time
- Looking for resources
from Friends. Need is for volunteers, not asking for money.
- The last time this was
tried was about 10 years ago.
- Currently there are
about 125 students involved in CY.
- General comments about
what’s been tried in the past – several years an individual family held a
party, sold tickets, and hired security. Prior efforts by school or groups
have been poorly attended.
- Marta emphasized that
this event will not be in any way sponsored by CVU. CY is a separate
organization.
- Friends would need a
member to be the committee chair. Marta will contact Kay Gault to see if
she is interested.
- Marta would like copies
of our membership forms
Stowe
Ski Bus
- Very successful this
year – needed two buses
Discretionary
Fund for individual students ($500 is in the budget for this)
- Val was only recently
made aware of the existence of this fund
- There would be a
straight contact from the school administration requesting the funds and
The Friends would then send the funds to the school
Concession
stand report - Kristen
- It has been tough this
year – parents need more information about how the money is spent
- Kristen is concerned
that there may not be a parent to take it over next year
- The locks on the
cabinets were cut one night when no one knew where the keys were. Locks
were replaced with school locks.
- Discussed the need to
gather a committee of interested and experienced parents who could develop
a better process for making sure keys and money boxes are where they are
needed
8th
grade parent night
- well attended and good
comments from parents about Dennis’s presentation
- brochures and
applications were handed out to parents
Upcoming
- Dessert with the
principal March 10.
- Need a co-chair for
staff appreciation
Outdoor
Concession – Jeff Tolbrocke has not returned contact from Dennis
Bulk
mailing for reminders
- Would cost $260 per
event
- We need to get notices
into the Newsletter and daily announcements
- Also buddy system is a
good way to generate interest in an event
Fiduciary
committee would like to request approval of an additional expenditure of funds
to support total request for fitness center equipment
- Request is for an
additional $779 which would meet the total request of $1500
- Reminder that
approximately $5,000 of our current balance is set aside for the sign
- Expenditure for fitness
center was approved
