In Albert Hunter’s daily journal he mentions the New Series Postage Stamp that had just came out. The stamps that Hunter is talking about came out April 30, 1904, so when Hunter mentions them; he says that he doesn’t have the newest collection. These stamps came out for the Louisiana Purchase, that happened in 1802.This stamp collection came out for the 100th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase. The new series of stamps had 5 different stamps featuring Robert Livingston, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, William McKinley, and the Louisiana Purchase. Each person in the stamp collection had something to do with the Louisiana Purchase. The first stamp in the collection was Robert Livingston, and it was worth 1˘, he was the first guy to propose the Louisiana Purchase he convinced the French to sell Florida and Louisiana to the United States. The next stamp in the collection was Thomas Jefferson who was the president at the time of the Louisiana Purchase and he was the person who sent the two men to negotiate the selling of the two states; the stamp was worth 2˘. James Monroe was one of the people that signed the treaty confirming the selling of the states and his stamp was worth 3˘. President McKinley was one of the people to help organize the 100th anniversary, this stamp was considered "memorial" and it was worth 5˘. The 10˘ stamp of the Louisiana Purchase was just showing what the impact of the buy did to American History.
