The pismire was a regular nuisance for farmers and gardeners of the early 1900's. Albert Hunter being a gardener recognized these Pismire's as nuisances also. Pismires were small ant like creatures that could be found many times in gardens. They eat leaves and can develop very fast. Much like ants, pismires have a queen, that produces more pismires. The males and queen both have wings during breeding season. The female pismires with no wings are the workers. Pismires live in the ground and are always in colonies. Albert Hunter did not want pismires his Garden because they are known to devour garden leaves rather quickly.
