College News:

Vermont residents eligible for tuition break at out-of-state New England public colleges

Are you worried about affording college?

If the major you want to study is not offered by any of Vermont's state colleges or the University of Vermont, you may be able to attend an out-of-state college at sharply reduced tuition.

The New England Board of Higher Education's Regional Student Program (RSP) provides a substantial break on out-of-state tuition to Vermont residents enrolled in certain programs offered by state colleges and universities in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Aquaculture, biomedical engineering, coastal studies, environmental horticulture, health management, information systems engineering, landscape, architecture, media, pharmacy and plastics engineering are examples of the hundreds of degree programs available at reduced tuition to Vermont residents through the RSP.

The RSP tuition rate reflects a significant break on an institution's out-of-state tuition. During the 2002-03 academic year, nearly 800 participating Vermont residents saved an average of $5,500 each on their
annual tuition bills because of the RSP.

Undergraduate and graduate programs are listed in the RSP catalog, the 2005-06 Apple Book for Vermont Residents. This fall, NEBHE distributed copies of the catalog to all high school guidance offices and libraries,
city and town libraries, state college and university admissions offices and state legislators.

The catalog is also available online at http://www.nebhe.org, or in print from the New England Board of Higher Education, 45 Temple Place, Boston, MA 02111. Telephone 617-357-9620, E-mail: rsp@nebhe.org
